Our Volvo fleet in Paris

Showing 1-2 of 2 cars

We rent Volvos in Paris, and right now that means a choice of two: the all-electric C40 Recharge and the larger XC60, both five-seat SUVs you can reserve online and collect here in the city. gorentcar is an online car rental service, so you book the exact car, pick it up with a voucher, and pay no deposit and no agency commission on top.

We are covers here what each Volvo is good for, which one suits your trip, what they are like to drive in and around Paris, and how the daily rate actually works once the deposit and insurance excess are part of the picture.

The two Volvos we rent in Paris

Our Volvo fleet is small by design: two cars, both 2024, both five-seat SUVs. The C40 Recharge is the all-electric one at €138 a day. The XC60 is the larger, more conventional SUV at €152 a day. That is the whole Volvo line-up with us, so if you wanted a seven-seat XC90 or a V60 estate, we do not carry those, and a bigger SUV or another brand would suit you better.

What the two share is the reason people rent a Volvo in the first place: a calm, well-built cabin, genuinely supportive seats, and the safety kit the brand is known for, with automatic emergency braking and lane keeping as standard. Neither is a budget city runabout, and they are not priced like one. They make sense when comfort and a planted, reassuring drive matter more to you than shaving the rate.

Which Volvo to pick

The €14 a day between them rarely decides it. Your trip does.

Book the C40 Recharge if most of your driving is in and around Paris with the odd day out. It is quiet, quick and cheap to run, and the one real catch is range. Volvo quotes over 400 km, but on a cold motorway run you should plan for nearer 300 and think about where you will charge. The electric C40 has its own page with the full detail.

The XC60 is the one for distance and luggage. Its boot holds around 483 litres and grows past 1,400 with the rear seats down, so a family and a week of cases fit without a fight, and depending on the exact car it can be all-wheel drive for a winter run to the Alps. The full spec sits on our Volvo XC60 rental Paris page. Both line up alongside our SUV range if you would rather compare against another brand.

Driving a Volvo in and out of Paris

Both cars are longer and wider than the typical Paris hire car, and you will feel it on the narrow streets of the Marais or in a tight underground car park. They are manageable, and the cameras and parking sensors help, but neither is the car you would pick purely for darting around the 1st arrondissement. Our honest steer is to park near the edge of the centre and use the metro for the tight stuff, then take the Volvo out when you actually need the space.

Where these cars earn their keep is the open road. This is a brand built for the long, comfortable haul: motorway cruising to Normandy or Bordeaux, an airport run from CDG or Orly with the boot full, a relaxed family week around the Loire. Low-emission rules will not slow you down either.

The XC60 is a 2024 car in one of the cleanest Crit’Air categories and the C40 is fully electric, so both are welcome inside the Paris low-emission zone on any day of the week.

What the daily rate really includes

Here is the part that decides whether a rental is good value, and it is not the headline price. Two SUVs at much the same daily rate can cost you very different amounts if something goes wrong, because what really matters is the deposit and the insurance excess.

With us there is no deposit blocked on your card and no agency commission added at the desk, which is unusual at this end of the market. The rate covers the car with unlimited mileage on both Volvos, so a long drive to the coast will not cost you more in kilometres. The figure worth checking before you book is the insurance excess, the amount you would be liable for if the car is damaged, and whether you want to reduce it.

A low rate with a high excess can end up dearer than a slightly higher rate that leaves you less exposed, so compare on that, not on the per-day price alone.

Collection is simple. You book online, bring your driving licence, a payment card in the main driver’s name and your booking voucher, and we hand the car over with a quick walk-round so any existing marks are logged before you drive away. If you have chosen the electric C40, ask us at pickup and we will point you to the nearest fast chargers.

FAQ — Common Questions Answered.

Is the Volvo C40 or the XC60 better for a family?

The XC60 is the better family car of the two. You get around 483 litres of boot space, room for three across the back seat, and more than 1,400 litres with the seats folded for bulky gear. The C40 seats five as well and is fine for a smaller family with soft bags, but its coupe roofline and smaller boot make it tighter for four people carrying hard cases. If you are travelling with children and plenty of kit, book the XC60.

How far can the electric Volvo C40 go on a charge?

You can expect roughly 300 to 400 km from the C40 Recharge, depending on conditions. Volvo’s official figure is over 400 km, but motorway speeds and cold weather bring that down, so plan for nearer 300 on a fast, chilly run. For driving in and around Paris it is easily enough for several days between charges. If you are going further afield, map your charging stops first, and ask us at pickup for the closest fast chargers.

Can I drive these Volvos in the Paris low-emission zone?

Yes, both qualify with no restrictions. The C40 is fully electric and carries the top green Crit’Air sticker, and the XC60 is a recent 2024 car in one of the cleanest emission categories, so neither is caught by the weekday rules inside the zone. You will not need a day pass or have to watch the clock. That makes a Volvo a safe choice if your plans involve driving through central Paris.

What do I need to pick up a Volvo rental in Paris?

You will need a full driving licence held for the minimum period we require, a payment card in the main driver’s name, and your booking voucher. If your licence is not in the Latin alphabet, bring an International Driving Permit with it. Pickup is here in Paris, and we will go through the car with you before you set off. Because there is no deposit to leave, collection is quick.

Is renting a Volvo more expensive than a standard car?

The daily rate is higher than an economy hatchback, starting at €138 for the C40 and €152 for the XC60, because these are premium SUVs. What can make them better value than the rate suggests is that we do not take a deposit or add commission, and mileage is unlimited, so fewer extra costs stack up. Whether it is worth it comes down to your trip: for comfort on longer drives the Volvo earns the difference, while for short city hops a smaller car is the cheaper call.
