Terms and Conditions of Rental
Effective Date: May 2026
Last Updated: May 2026
Article 1 — Booking
A booking is considered accepted when the customer:
- Correctly fills in the booking form (contact details, dates, pick-up and return locations);
- Selects the vehicle and the desired options;
- Makes the payment under the conditions provided.
Before confirming their booking, the customer must check its details (vehicle, dates, total price incl. taxes, options) and correct any possible errors. No modification will be taken into account after validation. A booking confirmation will be sent by email.
GoRentCar cannot be held responsible for the non-execution of a contract in the event of the vehicle's unavailability due to a force majeure event. The customer will be informed as soon as possible and may choose an equivalent vehicle or obtain a full refund of the amounts collected.
Article 2 — Conditions of Access to Rental
To rent a vehicle with GoRentCar, the main driver must:
- Be at least 21 years old (a young driver fee applies for drivers under 25);
- Have held a valid driver's license for at least 1 year;
- Present a valid piece of identification;
- Have a valid credit card in their name for the security deposit.
GoRentCar reserves the right to refuse rental to any customer who does not meet these conditions or who provides inaccurate information.
Article 3 — Rates and Payment
The prices displayed on the site are indicated in euros, all taxes included. They include the rental of the vehicle for the selected duration as well as the chosen options. Any potential additional fees (missing fuel, excess mileage, additional equipment) will be specified before final validation.
Payment is made by credit card via a secure payment system. GoRentCar does not store any credit card numbers in its files. The full payment is due at the time of booking, unless a specific offer is indicated on the site.
GoRentCar reserves the right to refuse or cancel a booking in the event of banking authorization refusal or a previous payment dispute.
Article 4 — Security Deposit
A security deposit will be debited or pre-authorized on the main driver's credit card at the time of picking up the vehicle. Its amount varies according to the vehicle category and is indicated during booking.
In the absence of damage, a fine, or a breach of the contract's conditions, the security deposit will be returned within a maximum of 8 working days after the return of the vehicle.
Article 5 — Picking Up the Vehicle
The customer must present themselves at the agreed date, time, and location, with all the required documents. Any unreported delay of more than 2 hours may result in the cancellation of the booking without a refund.
Upon pick-up, a joint condition report is carried out and signed by both parties. The customer acknowledges having received the vehicle in good working order and undertakes to return it in the same condition.
Article 6 — Use of the Vehicle
The customer undertakes to:
- Use the vehicle in accordance with its intended purpose and the Highway Code;
- Not sublet or lend the vehicle to a third party not declared in the contract;
- Not use the vehicle for competitions, races, or illicit activities;
- Not transport more passengers than the approved number of seats;
- Return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at pick-up.
Any breach of these terms entails the full and complete responsibility of the customer for any resulting damages.
Article 7 — Returning the Vehicle
The vehicle must be returned at the date, time, and location agreed upon in the contract. Any unreported return delay may result in an additional charge at the current daily rate.
A return condition report is carried out in the presence of the customer. In the event of damages noted that were not mentioned at pick-up, the cost of repairs will be deducted from the security deposit or billed directly to the customer.
Article 8 — Insurance and Responsibilities
All GoRentCar vehicles are covered by mandatory third-party liability insurance. Additional insurance options (excess waiver, driver protection, etc.) are offered as options during booking.
In the event of an accident, theft, or damage, the customer undertakes to inform GoRentCar within 24 hours and to complete an amicable report. Any late or incomplete declaration may result in the full financial responsibility of the customer being engaged.
GoRentCar declines all responsibility for personal items left in the vehicle.
Article 9 — Cancellation and Refund
- Cancellation more than 48 hours before pick-up: full refund.
- Cancellation less than 48 hours before pick-up or no-show: no refund.
In the event of cancellation by GoRentCar (excluding force majeure), the customer will be fully refunded within 30 days.
Article 10 — Force Majeure and General Provisions
GoRentCar cannot be held responsible for any failure to fulfill its obligations in the event of force majeure (natural disaster, strike, pandemic, government restriction, etc.). The party concerned will inform the other as soon as possible.
If one of the clauses of these conditions is declared invalid, the other clauses retain their full effect. These conditions are subject to French law. In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought as a priority. Failing this, the competent French courts will be seized.
