Our Renault captur fleet in Paris

Showing 1-2 of 2 cars

The Renault Captur is a compact SUV that we rent across Paris and deliver to wherever you’re staying. You book online and we bring the car to you, an apartment in the 11th or a hotel near Gare de Lyon, rather than sending you to an airport desk. We’re gorentcar, an online car rental service.

A compact SUV that still fits the city

The Captur sits between a hatchback and a full SUV, and that gap is the point of it. It’s about as long as a Clio but taller, so you get a raised seat and a clear view over traffic without a car that fights you down a narrow street or in a tight resident bay. For two adults it’s roomy.

For a family of four with a week of luggage it works, with one caveat about the boot we’ll come to. If you only ever drive inside the périphérique and rarely carry more than a couple of bags, you don’t need this much car, and the smaller Twingo will cost less and slot into spaces the Captur can’t. The Captur earns its place the moment you start leaving the city, or carrying people and their things.

What fits in the boot

Boot space is where the version matters. The petrol Captur gives you just over 400 litres with the rear bench slid back, enough for two large suitcases and a couple of soft bags on an airport run. The bench slides, so you can trade rear legroom for boot depth when you need to, which is a useful trick on a weekend away.

The hybrid is the catch. Its battery sits under the boot floor, so you lose around a quarter of the space, and a full hybrid Captur is tighter than a generic spec sheet makes it look. If luggage is your main worry, tell us when you book and we’ll confirm which version you’re getting. Drop the rear seats and either one turns into a small van for flat-pack furniture or a bike with the front wheel off.

Hybrid or petrol, manual or automatic

There are two choices that matter here: the engine and the gearbox. The petrol comes as a manual or an automatic. In Paris stop-start traffic the automatic is worth it. The manual is cheaper, but a day of lights and junctions makes it hard work. The full hybrid is automatic only. It runs on electric at low speed, stays smooth in town, and uses noticeably less fuel in traffic than the petrol does.

On a long motorway run that gap narrows. Either version carries a Crit’Air 1 sticker, so it’s allowed inside the Paris low-emission zone on weekdays and you won’t be stopped at a ZFE boundary. If you’re renting mainly for the city and the suburbs, the hybrid automatic is the one we’d choose. If your week is mostly motorway miles, the petrol is fine, and you keep the bigger boot.

Driving and parking it in Paris

In the city the Captur is easy. The high seat and tall glass make junctions and roundabouts simple to read, the turning circle is tight, and the sensors and reversing camera take the stress out of a parallel bay on a busy street. It’s narrower and easier to place than most of our SUV range, which is the whole appeal of it.

Out on the périphérique and the autoroute it stays settled and quiet, comfortable for a run down to the Loire or over to Normandy, though it’s a relaxed cruiser rather than a fast one. For a rental, that’s the right priority. Plenty of people take a Captur straight from the airport, and we can have one waiting when you land at CDG or Orly so you skip the queue at the desk.

How the rental works

You book online and the car comes to you. We deliver the Captur to your address in Paris or to the airport, hand it over with a quick walk-around, and collect it the same way at the end. You pay with a debit card, there’s no deposit held against your account, and the mileage is unlimited, so a spontaneous day trip costs you nothing extra. That last point matters more than it sounds.

A lot of cheap headline rates from the big aggregators come with a deposit hold of several hundred to a couple of thousand euros and a mileage cap that quietly adds up, and we’d rather put the terms in front of you. The Captur is one of the more popular cars in our Renault rental Paris range, so book a few days ahead in summer if you want a specific version rather than whatever is left.
